My First Cake Smash Session
A client of mine reached out to me recently, to tell me her baby girl had a baby girl. :) I photographed her daughter a few years ago when she was a high school senior. Now she had a baby who was turning 1 in about a month.
She reached out to me to see if I could do her daughters baby, Lyla's first birthday portrait and I was elated. I hadn't talked to her since I did her sons twin newborn session. So of course I jumped at the opportunity.
I never actually have done a cake smash and always wanted to. I had decided a few months ago I wasn't going to do newborn sessions anymore (maybe rare occasions). I had also started selling off many of my newborn props. But this was different.
My client and I texted back and forth idea's she had and items she bought for the shoot and party. So together we collaborated and came up with the perfect shoot. We also did a few family images. So basically, 2 different looks.
I couldn't help but share it in my blog, because I absolutely enjoyed this genre., I have decided to do more of these but perhaps more simple clean ones. I will do a few with props, and now i have this beautiful backdrop. But I plan on coming up with a few limited sets and I have already obtained some of the props for the future shoots.
Here's a few from Lyla's first portrait and cake smash session. She was an absolute doll!! And why I want to do more of these sessions. I couldn't have asked for a better first time.
Here is a behind the scenes picture of just the set.
I have the best clients, I can't say that enough. I am truly blessed.
